What would cause a dishwasher to stop working halfway through a cycle? Whirlpool Dishwasher approximately 10+ years old. Water laying inside the dishwasher. Was midway through the first wash cycle. Dishwasher does have power to it, but when you move the dial to different settings, it does not turn on. Just had a new drain (for sink and dishwasher) installed by a plumber. Could the drain be plugged/not hooked up? Could the motor just have gone? dishwasher drains directly into pipe, not through garbage disposal. connections between dishwasher and electric are tight (not a loose wire)
How long does the average dishwasher run? We jsut bought our first house, and it came with a dishwasher that looks fairly new. Ive honestly never had a dishwasher before, LOL, so i am excited. But it runs about 117 minutes on the power scrub, and 98 minutes on the Regular Wash. Is that about average? That seems like a long time!
Can i put the dishwasher tablet in the bottom of my dishwasher? Hi I have a dishwasher that I have had for a few years and the lid of where you put the tablets in has came off. (it wasnt actually new when i got it) so I was wondering if i can just put the dishwasher tables in the bottom of the dishwasher or would it not work properly.
What is the best type of dishwasher soap to use? Ok I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow and I need to get a new dishwasher soap (either liquid or gel packs, doesn't matter) and I need to know what the best kind is, because everytime I wash my dishes in the dishwasher the dishes (mostly glasses/cups) on the top rack never get clean, they usually have a dirty film on the outside or dirt (like from the other dishes below) stuck on the inside of them! How can I get ALL my dishes clean? And do dishwasher cleaners (the cleaner you can buy and run in your dishwasher to clean your dishwasher not dishes) really work or are they pointless? Oh yeah, I use jet dry, so it's not from hard water stains. It's not water spots I have a problem with, I have a problem with food and other "mush" from the dishes on the bottom rack coming up and getting on the dishes above....I could care less about water spots or water film....
Can you use dishwasher tablets in a dish-draw dishwasher? The little compartment where you put the powder has a couple of prongs in it, so I couldn't put a dishwasher tablet in there. Is it ok to just drop it in the dishwasher? I've had the dish-draws for ages but have never been game to try.. silly hey !
I removed my dishwasher to install new floors, and when I reinstalled it, no power gets to the inlet valve? It is a G.E. dishwasher. I never disconnected anything electrical besides unplugging the dishwasher. That seems like a strange coincidence if this went bad right after I removed and reinstalled the dishwasher, but I don't know what I would have done to cause this. It is definitely not the copper pipe as water flows through this fine when disconnected. Is there any easy way to verify that it is a damaged solenoid. If so is this an easy/inexpensive fix?
My dishwasher is leaving dishes with a white film. How can I make them come out clean? I just got a new dishwasher. I'm from the US, and I'm not used to the hard water here in Europe. I cannot get my dishes clean no matter what I do. They have a white film all over them. I've made sure that the dishwasher has salt and rinse agent, and that it is maintained correctly. When the dishwasher was brand new, the dishes came out clean, and after a few washes, they don't come out clean anymore. I need some help from someone who knows about dishwashers in Europe. I must point out to any of you stupid americans that think you know everything there is to know about the world, that in Europe, the dishwashers are much different from dishwashers in the US, and if you have never used a dishwasher in Europe, you are not really in a place to answer this question.
Can I connect my dishwasher directly to the drain? My sink/garbage disposal and my dishwasher sit on different walls of my kitchen (far apart). Usually the dishwasher line is connected to the drain via the garbage disposal. But in this case can I connect my dishwasher directly to the drain without using a line that crosses through all my cabinets?
Can a dishwasher be installed away from the kitchen sink? We have bought a dishwasher and are installing it in an old kitchen. Only problem is it is not near the sink and unless we remodel, it never will be. We do however, have the option to run the hot water straight up from the basement (water heater is located almost directly below the dishwasher placement) and run a drain line downstairs into an outgoing pipe or the floor drain that we have. Is this an option we can use? Otherwise, I have a $400 counter prop! Please help!
Will washing a baseball cap in the dishwasher ruin the cardboard or plastic frame in the hat? i've never washed a baseball cap before and i want to wash my friends'. i don't want to ruin it because it's not mine. i heard of those hat shaper things you can buy before you put it in the dishwasher, but the shape won't work for his hat because he bends the front part into a curve like a semicircle. would wrapping the curve around a mug work or will the dishwasher ruin the frame no matter what?
How much dishwasher powder do you put in a laundry? I read that chefs keep their white coats white by washing them with dishwasher powder instead of laundry detergent. The article said that this would work on all "whites" but did not say how much to use. Does anyone know how much dishwasher powder to use in an average size washing machine?
Can I get a portable dishwasher with low kitchen sink faucet pressure? I want to get a portable or countertop dishwasher for my new house which is the second level of a older house. Having said that, the water pressure, especially out of the kitchen sink faucet is very low. I'm wondering if I could still use a portable dishwasher with low pressure and/or if this matters for different types. Obviously I would prefer a model where this wouldn't make a difference. So far, I've looked into the 18" Haier and the 17" Danby. I've also seen a couple larger floor units by GE. So, my question is, will a portable dishwasher work with low kitchen sink water pressure?
Is it possible to have a built in dishwasher w/o a cabinet around it? I'm planning on moving my fridge so that there is space next to the sink to install a dishwasher. I'm planning on redoing the counter tops later but at this point, just want to have an operational built in dishwasher (not a portable one). Is this possible or do I need to have it inside a cabinet to make it stable?
How do I remove mildew from my dishwasher? I stupidly left some dirty dishes in my dishwasher for over a week before running the cycle. When I remembered the dirty dishes, I ran the dishwasher on the hottest setting thinking it would remove the food and little moldy things starting to grown in there. My dishes are mostly clean with a little mildew on them that I can remove by washing them in the sink. How do I now sanitize my whole dishwasher and the racks. If I can even sanitize the dishwasher and dishes together and not have to rewash all the dishes, that would be even better. I'm willing to wait another day or two for good answers in order to avoid having to go through all the dishes and rewash them, but the faster your answers come, the better off I am. Thanks a lot.
Why does my dishwasher make a humming/constant running noise when not actually running? My dishwasher makes a humming noise after it has completed it's cycle (it beeps a couple times when it is done running, and also has a light on the top that signals the dishes are clean). This noise is continuous, not very loud, but I am just wondering how much energy it is wasing with whatever it is doing. I have a friend with almost exactly the same GE Profile dishwasher, and it does the same thing. Unit is only 2 years old, and has made this noise since day 1. I usually end up leaving the unit part way open since that prevents it from making the noise. If I leave it closed it makes the noise for hours, I am not sure it will ever actually stop. reading the manual helps, it explains that this dishwasher even though it finishes, beeps, and lights up that it is finished continues to run a 'high efficiency' fan for 30mins to 4 hours later. It also says press a key on the keypad to stop it, however that does NOT work...
How do you take out a dishwasher from start to finish? I am putting tile in my kitchen and I was wanting to get a new dishwasher anyway so I am taking it out and tiling, then I am going to install a new dishwasher. How far under the dishwasher opening should I tile? Thanks for any help I can get.
How do you get rid of dishwasher grime? I have a fairly new dishwasher only 3 yrs old....we got a good model with double jetsprayers because we have 4 kids still living at home and have lots of dishes. :) Lately I have to practically wash them by hand BEFORE loading them in the dishwasher.....and even then, I STILL get what looks like gritty dirt in the bottom of my glasses! What IS that stuff? Is there a filter or something that needs to be cleaned out? Very frustrating. We DO have well water, but I've never seen that grime until it's went through the dishwasher. HELP?!!?
How can I keep steam from the dishwasher from ruining a laminate countertop? Our (fairly new) dishwasher does not have a steam guard. The steam vent is near the top, and the moisture is beginning to warp our laminate countertop. I contacted the store, and this model does not include a steam guard, and no such part is available for it. We've pulled the dishwasher out as far as it can go. Right now, we're using a piece of aluminum foil to re-direct the steam each time we use it, but that is a hassle AND ends up creating a small pool of water on the floor (which was, of course, beginning to ruin the laminate flooring, so now we have to put a towel down on the floor along with the aluminum foil on the dishwasher). Any ideas?
want to install dishwasher, the space is too big do I need to fame it in? I just got a new dishwasher standard 24'' dishwasher, there is a space between the counter top and the wall that the dishwasher will fit in. The space is 30" leaving space around the dishwasher. How do i go about this? I am also wondering about the "air valve" on the sink..is this necessary, I know you need and in and out of hot water. please help.
How much is my dishwasher worth? I am selling a one year old white whirlpool dishwasher. There is nothing fancy about this dishwasher...It is in excellent condition, barely used. How much should I ask for it?
Any home remedies for cleaning out the dishwasher? I have been using a branded make of dishwasher cleaner, stick it in and let the dishwasher run, but ive broken the bit where I put the container, anyone know any good home remedies? Something I can chuck in and run the dishwasher to clean it? Im thinking lemon or bicarbonate maybe, but just wondered if anyone uses this or anything else. And how much to use.
How do you break a dishwasher? I want to break my dishwasher without making it look abused. We live in an apartment complex and they will not give us a new dishwasher. It's like 10 years old and sucks electricity!!!! If it is broken they will replace it with a new one soooo yea...
Can a dishwasher cycle pattern be thrown off kilter? Ever since I swapped out the garbage disposal, my dishwasher is acting up. I have a lot of standing water in the bottom(more than normal) and the soap dispenser seems to be opening at the wrong time. When the cycle completes and I open the door the soap dispenser is open and the liquid soap is running down the door. Any ideas what might be causing this? The GE appliance is less than seven years old.
Does a dishwasher clean dishes or sanitizes them? As for some people, they think a dishwasher cleans dishes, riding all the specks of food and all. and some think it just sanitizes them after you scrubbed the food off of them. What do u think? One or the other, or maybe even both?? just curious.
Why is dishwasher so noisy when pumping hot water into load? the dishwasher is <2 years old and when it is on and pumping hot water into the load, it makes a loud banging noise (2-3 times per load for about 10-15 seconds each time). when i look under the sink it is the water pipes that are vibrating violently making the noise. any suggestions?
Can you have a stainless steel dishwasher with a white stove and frig? I know you can but all of our appliances are over 8 years old. Our white dishwasher just went out and I want to change everything to stainless steel. My husband said we can just get the stainless steel dishwasher and replace everything else as they die out. Wouldn't that look tacky? Tacky is not the word to use, but it wouldn't look right to mix appliances.
How much for plumbing to be installed for dishwasher? Wanted to see rough price for adding plumbing for dishwasher , there are hot and cold pipes and a drain pipe right below in basement about 5 feet from dishwasher and can this plumbing come up behind the dishwasher? The sink is to far away to tap off and I will be doing the electrical
How do I disolve laundry soap in my dishwasher? Someone accidentally put arm and hammer Laundry soap in my dishwasher and now when I run it suds start to leak out of the front. Is there any solution that will dissolve the laundry soap?
How to buy a good used dishwasher? I need a dishwasher, and am considering buying a used one. Lots of people in my area do fancy kitchen remodels and sell their old appliances. What should I look for when buying a used dishwasher? I would only get something at most two or three years old, what should I especially look for to make sure it's not a lemon?
Is there any hope for my dishwasher? I just moved into an apartment with a dishwasher. It looks like it is at least a decade old. Now, I get spots all over my dishes. The last time I had a dishwasher was an apartment that I lived in three years ago and I had the same problem. I used all kind of rinse aid crap, dishwasher cleaner, etc. and it still didn't clean properly. The landlord told me not to use gel or those gelcap things because those things are too new for older dishwashers. Any ideas or should I just continue to wash dishes myself. Note: Landlord will not fix unless it is completely busted. Also, I used my dishwasher only about once a week (it is just me). How often should I put rinse aid in? Any recommendations for soap brands? I just been buying Cascade powder I rent...I thought about buying one, but I don't think I have to and if I move in a year or two..I have to leave it behind.
What would cause a brand new dishwasher not to work? We thought the problem was the old dishwasher so we got a brand new one. Now that one isn't even cleaning very effectively. So what else could be the problem? Water pressure? Water drain connections? I'm pretty sure it's something wrong with the house and not the actual dishwasher.
How to get dishwasher to clean the best? My dishes always come out smoky looking and covered in water spots. Anyone know any really easy ways to 1. Clean the dishwasher itself 2. Any household solutions I can use as a rinse agent or something to help the dishes look sparkling? Thanks!
How do I hook up my portable dishwasher? I just bought a used portable dishwasher. I bought an adapter for the faucet to hook up to the dishwasher and the hose for the dishwasher won't stay on. If I hold it on and turn the dishwasher on and the faucet, water just runs over the sides of the hose and none appears to be going into the machine. I know the dishwasher works, I just don't know how to make it work.
How do you get rid of dishwasher smell on drinking glasses? It drives me crazy when I pull a clean glass out of the dishwasher and it smells funny when I drink out of it, like a musty old water smell. I've used jetdry and tried different detergents (liquid dishwasher soap never powered) but nothing gets rid of it. I wonder if skipping the dry cycle would help and let them air dry? Any suggestions?
Can washing machine powder be used in a dishwasher without it causing damage? My dad constantly insists on throwing washing machine powder (like Daz or Bold etc.) into the dishwasher instead of using an actual dishwasher tablet (like Finish etc.), claiming that it's "all the same thing". Me and the rest of my family think this is horrible and surely can't be good for the dishwasher itself or the things being washed inside. What's the definitive answer?
How can I find out why my dishwasher leaked water on the floor? My non-portable dishwasher ran just great, but there was a LOT of water on the floor after the cycle. It appeared to be under the dishwasher and cabinet. I placed a towel at the edge to soak it up and used 2 large bath towels. How can I find out why it leaked without pulling it out from under the counter?
How do you clean out your dishwasher? My dishwasher has been making my dishes stinky. I think it is time to clean it out, but I am not sure what to use. Any tips that you have tried and liked would be appreciated! Thanks!
Is it safe to wash dishes in the dishwasher in cold water? The hot water heater blew out a week and a half ago and since then my dad has been putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher and washing them. I noticed that although there wasn't any noticeable grease or dirt on the plate but if you looked closer you could see clear dry grease thingies on the plates (I don't know what to call them). So I just wanted to know if that was safe or not.
Does anyone know of any all-natural dishwasher detergents that really work? I have tried to replace my household cleaners with more natural versions over the past few months. Everything's working out wonderfully EXCEPT the dishwasher detergent. I've tried Ultra Citra Dish and I'm not impressed. The only good result is that I've got to wash the dishes so thoroughly before I put them in the washer (otherwise they end up still dirty) that I don't even bother putting them in the washer and just put them away, so I'm sure I've cut down on the use of that appliance, but there are some dishes I'd prefer to use the washer for, so... any good dishwasher detergents that REALLY work and are all-natural?
How can you change a built in dishwasher to a free standing one? I was given a dishwasher that was part of a kitchen, built into the cabinets. I have space for it but no cabinet. Should I just build one, do ready made cabinets for dishwashers exist? Please do not tell me to just buy a new one that is not an option! Thanks for all your help.
my dishwasher will not drain after it cycles. Do I need a plumber or dishwasher repairman? It is a GE Profile, included in the recall, but I don't think this particular problem is covered in the repair recall. That's why I am hesitant about calling GE. I called GE for troubleshooting, but the steps they provided did not manually empty the water. So its full to the brim with dirty water. I simply cannot live without my dishwasher. HELP! What shall I do?
Cracked plastic on dishwasher panel. Any kits or repair ideas without replacing the whole unit? I've just bought a house. It's big and beautiful and everything is perfect except there is a bit of a crack in the plastic panel that goes across the top of the dishwasher. Is there any plastic repair kits or something I can use to try and fix it without ruining it? I know it's only aesthetic, but it just looks out of place and I'd like to fix it. The dishwasher works fine and would be silly to spend $500+ to replace. Any ideas?
How far can a dishwasher be from the waste point? We're buying a dishwasher as we're fed up of the amount of time we spend scrubbing things! How far can the unit generally be from the waste point i.e. the kitchen sink? The only place we can locate ours would be a few cabinets width away from from the sink, and not even on the same side of the kitchen. The total pipe length would have to be approximately 2.4 metres / 8 feet. Would this be ok? Many thanks.
Is there a domestic dishwasher available with both hot and cold water feeds? We have constant hot water from a Rayburn, so it doesn't make sense to use a dishwasher that heats its water from cold. The hot water is sometimes nearly boiling, but most manufacturers specify 65º max. Is there a machine that can take really hot water for washing, and has a cold water feed for prewashing and rinsing?
Putting hats in the dishwasher really work? My work hat is getting kind of gross, and it says not to put it in the washing machine. Does putting it in the dishwasher really work? Do you have any other 'home remedies' ?
How do I use my built-in dishwasher which was already in my home? I moved into this house a few months ago and usually just wash dishes by hand and dry them. We don't use up a whole lot of dishes at a time. The few times we have used a ton of dishes and pots and pans, we're standing by that sink for a long time, taking turns. Please guide me to properly using my dishwasher. It's a Fridgidaire Ultra Quiet built-in dishwasher...i don't know if that helps any.
How do I clean dishwasher rings on my wine glasses? My wine glasses are too tall for the dishwasher, so when we wash them we put them on their side. As a result, water pools in the goblet and leaves a dishwater ring on the inside of my glasses. They're just normal hand blown glasses and I'd really like to find a way to make them look new again. Any advice?
What causes mold in a dishwasher? We recently loaded the dishwasher and went on a week long vacation. We never turned the dishwasher on so the dishes just sat there. We are good about rinsing plates off before we put them in the dishwasher and this dishwasher is part of our new home, so we were wondering...what would have caused mold to get all over one single plate. It was the only tupperware plate in there and we were wondering if it could have been because it was wet.
dishwasher? my dishwasher wont releas any water into the machine , any idea's

Dishwasher? Diswasher Repair? Hi All - I turned my dishwasher on and it was running for a couple of minutes and then just stopped. Now it won't start up again. Has anyone had this happen? How do it fix it without calling for repair? It actually happened before and I just left it alone for a few days and then one day I gave it a try and it was working. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!

Dishwasher? Son asked his mother the following question: 'Mom, why are wedding dresses white?' The mother looks at her son and replies, 'Son, this shows your friends and relatives that your bride is pure.' The son thanks his Mom and goes off to double-check this with his father. 'Dad why are wedding dresses white?' The father looks at his son in surprise and says, 'Son, all household appliances come in white.'

My dishwasher/sink is backed up, can you help!?!!?!? About a week ago my boyfriend noticed that kitchen sinks weren't draining very well, so he took a plunger to one of the sinks (side without a garbage disposal). After a few minutes of plunging water ran out of the dishwasher and onto the floor. Since then our dishwasher won't drain and keeps about an inch and a half of water on the bottom. We hadn't had issues with our dishwasher before this. We tried a mix of vinegar/maybe baking soda/hot water that his mom recommended and bought a snake and used it on the pipes (took all 25 feet of it). Now the two sink drains seems to be working better, but the dishwasher still won't drain. We've used cups and bowls to remove water from the dishwasher and every time it will just fill back up. What can we do?? We really don't want to pay $ for a plumber. (Who does??) If more information would help you help us, just let me know.
dishwasher filling with dirty water from sink ... help? Garbage disposal works fine, dishwasher wash/rinse seem to work fine, dishwasher does drain fine after a wash cycle-- only fills up with nasty water (that becomes stagnant and mildewy) after the sink has been used several times/for a long time, such as when i do a large load of dishes by hand... never realize it's happening til a.) i open the dishwasher and "EWW!" or b.) the dishwasher begins to leak/overflow onto floor. yuck :P **note: if the washer is full of water, i simply have to turn on its "Drain" function... the cycle runs and the water is gone... til next time it accumulates. going to try all suggestions! :)
Portable dishwasher missing from home just purchased? Ok, here is my dilemma and I need some creative advice although I already know the answer. I am a Realtor and have a VERY difficult client. When we first went through the house there was a REALLY old portable dishwasher in the house that I heard him say he would never use and was going to throw out. I did write up the offer with the dishwasher included because thats a standard offer for me. Well.. I do my own final walk thru of the house today. House is nasty dirty, this is an estate that the renter moved out of. So, my son and I go clean this house because listing agent wouldnt clean it there is no one from seller family to clean it. Then.. I realize the dishwasher is gone. Argh. Listing agent asked me to call my client , which was my first mistake. Should have resolved it without calling him and agitating him more.. but I had to. Listing agent offered 100 bucks for the dishwasher. Seller said NO. Get old back or buy new one. Listing agent wont ask family to pay.Any ideas ? Listing agent is also already paying 300 bucks out of pocket for water softner that he failed to notice he listed with the property when it was actually a rental. I had that in the purchase contract too. Our contracts state "broom clean" but you are right.. next time I will write in the contract that home must be in move in condition! I opened up the ads this morning to check the appliances ads to see if we could find a cheap portable. I found one for 50 bucks(listing agent paid for it) , ran and got it, threw it in the house before final walk thru. Boom, deal closed!!
My dishwasher leaves a white, chalky residue on everything, including the inside of the dishwasher.? All of my dishes have this chalky residue . . . you can actually feel it. My glassware is cloudy. I have a water softener, and it has salt. I can fill my rinse agent dispenser with a rinse agent (which is supposed to last a month), and it empties out in 2-3 washes, so something is not right with that. I have tried using a rinse agent and not using one . . . no difference. To get the chalky stuff out of the dishwasher I used a dishwasher cleaner that I had to run through the cycle when the dishwasher was empty. Worked great . . . but it was all back the very first time I did a load. I am using Kirkland Powder detergent. I appreciate any advice on this one!
Dishwasher water connect; Hot or Cold.? The reason I ask is i heard newer dishwashers can be connected to the cold and the heating element will heat the water to save energy. I connected my old dishwasher (older & and used) to the cold but the water never got hot. So either the heater was broke or I needed to connect it to the hot; which I did eventually anyway. So now I have another dishwasher used 2000 GE Nautalist. So do I connect to hot or cold?
Dishwasher Sudsing!!!I? This morning I ran the dishwasher and it started leaking suds! I used the same dishwasher tablets that I always use, so I assume some dish soap mush have been on one of the dishes. How do I get all the suds out and get the dishwasher clean to make sure that the next cycle I run isn't full of suds too?
Dishwasher help? My dishwasher just recently quit cleaning my dishes. I rinse the dishes off before they are put in the dishwasher. When they come out, they are still dirty. Any help? Can I run a cycle through an empty dishwasher? I have been washing dishes by hand and its hard to do that with a baby. Any cleaning ideas?
Dishwasher repair help? Yesterday I noticed that my dishwasher wasn't filling up with enough water, so I checked the float and cleaned it. After replacing it ,the dishwasher makes the sound of water wanting to pump in, but none is filling--it's stays dry. When pushing on the float from the bottom of the dishwasher it does fill slighly with water. After driving around trying to find a new float and having no success, I want to order the new float, but wanted to know first ,if it sounds like a float problem or something else?
Dishwasher backing up? Here's the problem. My dishwasher will be full of foul smelling water. I can get the dishwasher to drain by simply running it through a rinse cycle, although the stench takes a while to air out. I went to load the dishwasher today and the bottom was once again full of murky, foul smelling water. I can't figure out where it is coming from or even where to start addressing this issue. Help? Okay, I've run a dishwasher cleaner through and I've pulled the unit out to get a better look at it. It may have been improperly installed all those years ago. What I BELIEVE is the drain line (black tubing coming out the back/bottom) has a small loop in it and sits on the floor. There isn't enough tubing to raise it up even if I wanted to. I'm wondering if this is the source of the problem and, if so, why this problem has just recently started. Since this is a new problem I'm looking for other possible explanations as well.
Dishwasher question - HELP please!? Does anyone know if it is possible to put a dishwasher in a laundry. We are moving into a place which does not have a recess for the dishwasher in the kitchen. Can you just connect the dishwasher hose to where the washing machine usually goes? Thanks for any advice.
dishwasher problems? my dishwasher is clogged. I have a Hotpoint Dishwasher can anyone help me please i want to drain the water. my dishwasher look like a mini pool, i have no money to give to professionals any ideas on fixing it??
Dishwasher Vent? We are having granite counters put in and a new under mount sink and faucet. The problem is currently we have a drop in sink that has the faucet and then a round, about maybe 2 or 3 inch high “vent” thing. It has two little slits towards the top and when the dishwasher is running I can hear noise from it, so I think it is some sort of vent or something for the dishwasher. Anyways when I get the granite put in I don’t want that ugly thing near my faucet since I am getting an under mount sink, so does it have to be there? Can someone tell me what it is, if it has to be there, what I’ll need to do to have it not there with the new counters, and if I’ll need a new dishwasher? Thanks in advance! Mine is currently on top of the counter right near my faucet, can I have them install it under the counter just so it doesn't show? I've been to a lot of houses that don't have it on top so I'm just wondering if its really needed or if there is just a different way to install it. I've heard that sometimes if the line gets junk in it that water will spill out of that vent also, so I'm wondering if it is installed under the sink where will the water will go if that happens? I live in a condo also so installing a vent to the roof isn't an option.
Dishwasher dirty water in sink? We have an OLD dishwasher and a sink with a non-working garbage disposal. I did not think the two were connected but recently we noticed dirty dishwasher water coming up into the sink - yuck! - during the cycle. We don't use the sink anymore because the disposal actually leaks. Dishes still seem clean, dishwasher otherwise seems to be working fine. What's going on? What do I need to do?
Install new hookups for Dishwasher? I recently just bought a 100 year old home, which has never had a dishwasher. Therefore , there are no existing hookups for a dishwasher. I am thinking about hiring someone to place hook ups, for a dishwasher and also install the dishwasher. My question is how much cost am I looking at for new hookups and installation of dishwasher. Thank you,

LG Dishwasher Error OE -- Help?? I have an LG Dishwasher that keeps flashing the error: OE. I looked behind the dishwasher and nothing seems wrong. Drain tube and cord seem fine. All of a sudden the dishwasher just stopped before the wash cycle and its not draining out the bottom. Ideas? Model LDS5811
Cockaroaches in my Dishwasher? Alright, I think that I have an american cockaroach infestation in my dishwasher. At night, they leave the dishwasher and wander around my kitchen island in search of food. Is there any special soap that I could use to kill them in the dishwasher? Should I use hot water, warm water, cold water, or what so that this can be more effective. I almost never used the dishwasher since i moved in 4 months ago, so what do you suggest?
dishwasher making noise when water circulates? Dishwasher made loud harmonic, vibrating sound when water circulates. we took apart the bottom to check for any walnut shells, etc.that might be caught in grate, just a little piece of tape. we ran without couple of parts on bottom. still made noise; we pushed in on valves where water goes out of dishwasher. Could something have been caught behind valves. What could it be. not in motor, as when runs without propeller and bottom part, no noise.
Dishwasher, no water comes out!? My dishwasher does not fill up with water i don't know whats wrong! When i fill up the dishwasher with a jar of water, it works.. so the buttons is working fine, its just not filling it up by itself. anyone have any clue what the problem might be?
Is teflon dishwasher safe? I just got a new egg poaching pan. It's mostly stainless steel, but the egg cups are lined with teflon. The instructions said the steel was dishwasher safe, but made no mention of the teflon. I haven't used teflon in years and when I did, I didn't have a dishwasher. I know you can't use metal against it or it will scratch. But I don't know if you can put it in the dishwasher. Thank you.

Dishwasher Problems? The owners of the house that we live in recently put in a brand new Electrolux dishwasher. It has been working fine up until recently where the tablet is not disolving during the wash cycle. It recommends "Finish Powerballs" but as we have better things to spend our money on than top brand washing tablets, we are just getting cheap alternative tablets. When the wash finishes and we open the....door of it, the tablet bay opens and the tablet falls out. Yet this never happened with the good brand. So is it something with the dishwasher or should we switch back to the good brand? Is there something missing (or something there) in the cheap brand that doesnt allow the cheaper brand's tablet dissolve? thanks
Dishwasher not working? I just bought a house. Actually we close in the morning. The house is as is. They took the fridge and stove but left the dishwasher. When I turned it on the motor started but no water ran into it. The water is on everywhere else in the house and I looked under the sink and all around for a seperate cut off valve but did not find one. Could there be one under or behind the dishwasher? it is a built in so I am going to have to take it out anyway fo fix it but have never had to hook one up so dont know where to look.

Dishwasher leaves dirt on top of the cups/bowls on the top rack, is it a dishwasher problem or plumbing prob? I recently bought a house with a warranty and I have been having this problem with my dishwasher, I've had the warranty company send out a dishwasher repairperson to look at it, and he said it was a problem with draining the dirty water, so a plumber came out and said there was nothing wrong and that I have to run the garbage disposal for at least 5 min before I run the dishwasher. This only halfway alleviates the problem. So I don't know where the problem is, the dishwasher or the disposal. Any advice?
Dishwasher Lasagna? I was looking up a recipe for Spinach Lasagna when I came accross this web site, explaining how to cook your lasagna in your dishwasher. Check it out.... http://www.partselect.com/JustForFun/Dishwasher-Lasagna.aspx Would anyone actually try this??
Inside a dishwasher? My little brother has always wanted to see what happens inside a dishwasher while it is running. Does anyone know if there is a video on the web that shows that with either a camera in the dishwasher or a clear dishwasher or something? He would be so thrilled if he could see it. Thanks!!!
My Dishwasher Broke, Ran One Load, Took Dishes Out, Nothing, Checked Fuse, Seems Like There Is No Power? I ran a load of dishes, took them out, went to run another load, and there was no power, i hit the fuse box twice, nothing, does not run, im not sure if i just need to buy a new dishwasher or if this is a problem some one else has had and can be fix easy
Dishwasher blades will not turn...? Hi, has anyone had this happen before? The dishwasher blades we took out because our dishwasher stopped working. We found the problem works fine. The only issue is the blades on the bottom. We placed them on they are loose, and are not able to get them back into place. I am just dumbfounded at it. It is a Kitchenaid Whisper Quiet model. Appreciate the advice and thanks.
Dishwasher drains into yard.? I live in a house on blocks and I have a 2" pipe that comes out from underneath the house behind the kitchen. Apparently the dishwasher drains directly into the yard. Is this normal or do I need to replumb it to drain into the sewer line. If it is normal to have the dishwasher drain outside, is there any downside to having it dump out under the house somewhere? I am putting in a deck in the backyard and where the pipe comes out, the ground is completely saturated and I can't dig holes for my footings because the saturated earth just falls back into the hole. It is truly like a swamp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Dishwasher question? We bought a used portable dishwasher. I'm just wondering when I turn the water on at the tap, its it okay to just turn on the cold water? I'm assuming the dishwasher heats up the water? Its an older Kenmore model if that helps any. Its not connected to a specific line, its portable so we hook it up to the tap when we are doing a load, when its not in use the hoses go back into the machine
Kenmore dishwasher by Frigidaire? The guy came out to fix my dishwasher. You'll remember it, Car Dude, as the dishwasher that the motor was running but it wasn't putting water on the dishes. Well, he said that the pump motor was working, but not the other motor. He said he could hear the electricity going to that other motor (he said he heard it making a humming noise); but, he said the motor wasn't working even though it had electricity. I said the dishwasher is just over a year old. He said, given the age, it's probably a manufacturing defect. He said the dishwasher had the Kenmore name on it; but, it was actually built by Frigidaire. He said these are cheap models and not even worth repairing, as to repair it would cost a couple hundred dollars. He said that's probably more than the cost to replace it with the same model. Does of this sound like your experience with these appliances? Are Kenmore dishwashers sometimes made by Frigidaire? Are they cheaply made? Am I better off replacing than repairing?
Dishwasher help! What kind do you have? What bradn of built in dishwasher do you have? And out of a 1-5 scale with 5 being highest what do you think about it. I run my dishwasher 2 times a day (6 kids x 3 meals) so I want to get a good one and can't afford to make the wrong choice. The dishwasher we have is about 10 years old and is a GE Triton and it was great for us. So I guess I am looking for recent dishwasher opinions. Thanks!
Why are my stainless steel pots not dishwasher safe? We got married last July, and got some very nice items for the kitchen. Unfortunately, 'nice' seems to be synonymous with 'not dishwasher safe'. I understand the breakable items, but we have a set of Calphalon pots and pans that say in their manual that washing them in the dishwasher voids the lifetime guarantee. I don't understand how I can have boiling liquids in it and use metal spatulas and whisks that I would think would do more damage than a dishwasher. Is it harmful to them to go in the dishwasher? It seems like I spend so much of my evenings scrubbing pots and pans! We also have Kitchenaid knives that are not supposed to go in the dishwasher. They are all metal, and I wash them in hot water and scrub them, which is what a dishwasher would do. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks in advance! What if I put regular dish soap (like I use in the sink) and run it like that?
Dishwasher help please? not broken.? okay, so me and my mom mom were out of those tab things that you use for dishwashers, so I put normal dishwasher soap on all the dishes and started the dishwasher. When I came back into the kitchen like 5 minutes later, bubbles were ALLLL over the floor!! I managed to clean the bubbles up on the outside with towels, but I need to get the inside bubble free!!! Is the dishwasher broken?!!! Please help me!!! How do I totally clean the inside?!
Whirlpool dishwasher (ADG 710) stuck on cycle? Hi, I have a dishwasher (Whirlpool ADG 710) that gets stuck partway through the cycle so it never finishes. I've also noticed that the heating element is blackened around some of the contact points. I'm not sure if this is related to what's causing the cycle not to finish or not. My question is if anyone knows how much it might cost to replace the heating element - not sure whether to get it replaced (& hope the cycle will then finish) or simply buy a new dishwasher. Any help gratefully received Dave
"Expired dishwasher soap." Anyone heard of this? The factory rep for my new dishwasher said the reason the dishes aren't getting clean is because the dishwasher powder I am using is "expired". He said that to test dishwasher powder, pour a small amount in your hand and drip cold water on it. If the powder doesn't get warm in your hand, he says, then it has expired - meaning it won't work as a detergent in the machine. He also said that dishwasher powders have an "expiration date" stamped on the box, but it is coded by the manufacturer so you can't tell how old the box is when you buy it. I can imagine solutions to this (liquid soap, higher water temp, pre-rinsing, etc.), but I am amazed about the expiration thing. Ever heard of this? *
Portable dishwasher problems? I've had this dishwasher for years. All of a sudden the hose won't stay on the faucet. There does not appear to be anything wrong with it. When I hook the hse onto the faucet I can pull down on it and it does not come off but as soon as I turn on the dishwasher & the water a few minutes later it falls off. Anyone know what is wrong?
Dishwasher not draining (Disposal Installation)? Ive answered my own question but would like to share a few tips for those with this problem. 1st, you will need some plumbers putty when you come home from the store with your new disposal..$2. Its not included. Now suppose your dishwasher will not drain after you think your job is complete. 1st remove the discharge hose to the disposal and point it into a bucket, turn the dishwasher on drain cycle and see if water comes out. It does? Good..that means your line is not clogged, your pump isnt bad, filter not clogged..ect.. Now, Unlike me..read the instructions better next time. If you are installing a disposal with a dishwasher you will have to KNOCK OUT the piece of plastic in the drain valve on the disposal unit where the hose goes in! (A hammer and screwdriver works...remove the piece of plastic inside the disposal after) (They leave it closed off for installations without a dishwasher, so you have to knock out the nickel sized piece of plastic to open the line.)
Lightning my dishwasher hair? Hey! So I have almost dishwasher hair and I just want to chagne the color of it. I'm 14, so I really don't know that much about dying hair. I was thinking of getting a lightening gel. Right now it's still winter, so I can't go out in the sun. I really don't know what I'm going to do though, because I've never changed my hair color. When I was young it was a light blonde, but now it's like a dishwasher color. Any suggestions?
My dishwasher is connected to the cold water line. Is this correct? I have a dishwasher that doesn't heat the water. It runs totally cold. I found that it's connected under the sink to the cold water line and on the front of the dishwasher is an option for "High temp wash" but that doesn't even get the water warm. Is my dishwasher connected correctly or is the dishwasher broken?
My Dishwasher is not cleaning my silverware? Just moved into a brand new, never lived-in before, townhouse. Brand new appliances including the dishwasher. It seems the dishwasher is leaving rust-looking spots on the silverware; however, at my previous place, this never happened. It looks like rust, yet if you scrape at it, it comes off. Would rush scrape off? I don't think I have cheap silverware, lol. Plus the fact that if it was bad silverware, it would have done this at the last place. ANY IDEAS? This has been happening since I moved in, which was a month ago. Brand new appliances in a brand new place!
clogged dishwasher? wont drain? My guy friend doesn't have a lot of money to pay a plumber to come fix this. I was over at his house for the first time in a while and I went to put a dirty glass in the dishwasher. BIG mistake. I opened it and it smelled like someone died in there. I held my breath and looked in. It looked like an inch or two of disgusting water on the bottom with a layer of mold on top. He explaned that a while ago it got cloged and wouldn't drain. What are some ideas to get it cleaned out in there? any ideas how to unclog a dishwasher so it will drain?
Moving dishwasher location -need to move the wire to other side of sink? My home is about 20 years old. The original dishwasher was hotwired. I want to move it to the other side of the sink, because I am putting in new cabinets and it wasn't functional in the old location. The cable is black (with black/white/ground inside) and is just long enough to reach the other side of the sink where I want the new location to be. Q1: Can I then place a receptacle at the end of it? Q2: (It won't be long enough to hot wire to the dishwasher in this new location, but I think? I could put a plug on the dishwasher and then just plug it in. Is that true? I probably need to get a new dishwasher as the old one is as old as the house and is not the greatest anymore.) Q3: Should it be a 15 amp receptacle-not a 20 amp receptacle? I don't know if the cable is 14/2 and 120 Volt, but I do know it is a dedicated circuit in my breaker box. Hope this is clear enough. Thank you for advice.
Kenmore 665 Dishwasher!? I have a Kenmore 665 Dishwasher Serial: 1573400051 Motor#: s62nxplp-7624, for some reason it would not drain the water. I opened the bottom cap from the dishwasher and took a look at the motor and pump, both seem to be functioning perfectly. I also tried checking the drain pipe for leakagwe but there were no clogs at all. What may be the problem?
Energy efficient dishwasher? I have a Baumatic dishwasher which takes in cold water and heats it using electricity. I also have a condensing combi boiler. Can I fill the dishwasher with hot water from the boiler thus reducing the electrical energy required? Or will this destroy the intake valve ect.? Please advise.
