How much is my dishwasher worth?

I am selling a one year old white whirlpool dishwasher. There is nothing fancy about this dishwasher...It is in excellent condition, barely used. How much should I ask for it?

  1. $75
  2. 80 bucks
  3. $25-35
  4. go to goodwill lol
  5. I've been associated with some thrift stores through the years and can say with some authority - next to nothing. People want a brand-new dishwasher or none at all; they don't want one that's been in use and now is being sold for whatever reason. A virtually new, high-end dishwasher selling at a thrift store around here might - might - bring 30% of its original purchase price. They lose value faster than new cars, it's amazing.
  6. I've seen a lot of them around here going for $150-200 on Craigslist.
  7. If you have a dishwasher that you need to get rid of which is fairly new, then the best course of action is to donate it to charity (check your local charities, some do not.) You can typically claim more using a taxable deduction than just selling it to a consumer...of course, you will have to wait until next tax year to do so.
  8. $10. A low end used dishwaher won't fetch much. I can buy a low end dishwasher for about $100 brand new. Why go through all the trouble of installing a used dishwasher which may not work after a week?
