What would cause a brand new dishwasher not to work?

We thought the problem was the old dishwasher so we got a brand new one. Now that one isn't even cleaning very effectively. So what else could be the problem? Water pressure? Water drain connections? I'm pretty sure it's something wrong with the house and not the actual dishwasher.

  1. THE WOMEN WORKING
  2. GOT TO BE THE WATER PRESSURE BUT IF IT IS A NEW ONE ITS UNDER GUARANTEE GET THEM OUT CHECK YOU DONT HAVE A BLOCKAGE SOMEWHERE OR WATER IS RUNNING BACK FROM SOMEWHERE WHEN IN DOUBT CALL OUT THE EXPERTS
  3. Check under the sink and make sure your pipes are not on a negative slope. As in pointing against gravity? Did the person that installed it plug it in? Sounds funny but its hard to see once a refridgerator, stove or dishwasher is actually put into place if anyone bothered to remember to plug it in.
  4. Check the water is draining properly...call in the service man.
  5. Not enuf water pressure...are heat elements working in washer??220 volt washer wired into a 110 volt system
  6. Make sure yo don't have gavanized piping feeding the dishwasher because they can restrict from corrosion after years of use and can cause little or no water at all to clean dishes, also make sure the dishwasher isn't siphoning as the dishwasher fills(the drain hose should be 1/2 way up the back of the DW so the water doesn't siphone while filing and washing). Hope this answer helps.
  7. Check to be sure it is plugged in. If it is check to be sure that it is not plugged in to the outlet for the garbage disposal. That happened to a friend of mine. She even called out a repair man and that was what was wrong! Also you might want to be sure the water shut off valve is not turned off under the sink.
