My husband installed a dishwasher and now we have very little hot water coming out of faucets?

The kitchen sink, bathroom sink and dishwasher seem to be getting little hot water. The shower in the basement and the shower in the bathroom are working fine... Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong. My hubby replaced the kitchen faucet (thinking it was clogged with debris) and it's still not giving us very much hot water.. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. Call the plumber!
  2. I don't know if you mean the flow is low or the water is not hot enough. Perhaps if it's a flow problem, make sure the supply valve on top of the water heater is fully open. Maybe he closed it while working on the plumbing and didn't open it back up all the way. If it's just a tempurature problem, the only thing I could think is he maybe hooked the cold and hot water supplies together under the kitchen sink, sending cold water back down the hot water pipe.
  3. Dishwashers have a solenoid that turns on and off ther hot water. Other than a leak somewhere caused by a DIY job, I'm wondering if the solenoid is working properly. abc
  4. Is there a valve supplying the kitchen sink? Valve could be plugged up, not uncommon to get rust and mineral deposits in hot water heaters. Perhaps he kinked a pipe when installing dishwasher.
  5. When working on supply lines, sometimes the aeraters get clogged with debris. Unscrew them and clean them out.
