What could cause a washer to not drain and spin during the rinse drain cycle?
My washer lid has a magnet to let the washer know when the lid is open or closed so I cant trigger anything. The washer works just fine to wash the laundry, but it doesnt want to drain during the rinse/drain cycle. thanks everyone for the help!

- Your drain is stopped up. Below the drum there is a pump that removes the water. I have seen many times when a pillow or something with fiber fill in it bust open and clog the pump its easy to fix with the propper tools.
- the pump is pluged or is worn out and needs replaceing
- Clogged pump, or the solenoid could be burned out---it tells the washer when to change cycles.
- This happened to my Washer last year. I figured since it was about seven years old, I just needed a new one. However, being curious about how things work, I decided since I had the washer away from the wall, I was going to figure out how the washer actually works (and what it looks like under it). I found a small plastic piece that had broken (I do not remember what it was called), so I called SEARS repair (it is a Sears Washer). They told me the name of the part and they break over time (mainly from putting too heavy of a load in the washer ~ they break to protect other parts). I went to SEARS repair, purchased the part for $13, installed it myself, and rest is history - Washer is spinning, pumping the water out, etc and still works like a new one! NOW, I am not saying this is your problem, it was mine, but you could have the same problem. GOOD LUCK
