Where would an electrical switch be inside a dishwasher?
The dishwasher will not work. It turns on and runs but there is no water. Roommate's dad said that there is an electrical switch that has to be turned on. Anyone know where in the heck to find it and does it exist?

- You have control button on the front. The start switch is activated with the lever when you close the door. No water means that maybe the water supply valve is shut off. This is usually found under the sink.
- switch is inside the door.but the switches arent your problem, its most likely the solenoid which is under the machine.
- Most dishwashers are hooked up to the water supply and do not have switches to activate the water supply. When you turn on the dishwasher the machine begins its designed cycle. Most times there can be a pause before the washer actually starts and that can run anywhere from 1-2 minutes depending on design. If the machine turns on and fails to wash then either the inlet valve is clogged or the solenoid on the valve is faulty or the electronic module that controls the power signal to it is faulty.
- The only switch I can think of he is referring to is the one that shuts it off if you open it while it is in a cycle. It will be somewhere around the edge of the door in the jam possibly in the top.
- lol....that guy has no idea what hes talking about.....there are no "water switches" on any dishwasher first of all make sure the water supply is turned on all the way (usually under the sink).... if it is then check that nothing is clogging the water tower (thing in the middle of the dishwasher fan that pops up) if that doesnt do it you can try to pull the access panel off the bottom and see if anything is obstructing the motor (sometimes things will get kicked under there and get stuck around the motor...depending on the design anyway) if none of that works youll have to call someone
