Can a washer/dryer that needs a 15-20amp 120volt outlet be plugged into a 13amp 125volt extension cord?
I have a new washer and dryer that can't reach the actual outlet because the cords are too short. Can I use the extension cord that I have or should I get a new one? By the way, I've had a ton of extension cord fires lately, so it would be really nice to know if I should use this one or not. Thanks.

- NO! NO! NO! Get longer Plug Cords!
- no it can not call an electrician to put in a new socket so it plugs in the right way. trust me I'm an electrician you could damage the extension cord as it can only carry 13 amps not 15 or 20amps
- never use extension cords with dryers. they have special size plugs on dryers just for that reason.
- It's been said, but it's worth repeating: NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
- dont use a extension cord , get a longer 220 v extensin cord
