dishwasher?
is it safe to use liquid drain cleaner in a dishwasher?

- It should say on the back of the bottle. I run a bottle of The Works Rust, Lime & Calcium remover through mine, then 2 wash cycles of plain water, about every 6-7 months to keep everythign corrosive free.
- Probably not a good idea. If it is clogged you perhaps need to take it apart and clean out the hoses!
- It will eat out the drain pump, and the seals, but other than that is is ok. If you washer won't drain, your pump is probably gone. If it drains partially, run about a half gallon of bleach through a rinse cycle. Do it a couple of times.
- no - use something like jet dry should have information on your product package that tells you best product to use
- NO!
- There is a valve at the bottom of you dishwasher that may be damaged by a drain cleaner. However you may be able to solve your problem another way. If you have a garbage disposal you may have a clog that is blocking the exit from your dishwasher. Open you cabinet to see if there is a rubber (usually black) hose running from your dishwasher to your disposal. This is where I have cleaned out 90% of clogs from dishwashers. You may have to replace this line, but that may take care of your draining problem. Another one of my favorite problems is that someone will replace there disposal and forget to remove the plug from the new disposal.
- No don't use liquid drain cleaner. I use packets of Crystal Light lemonade mix to clean the interior of dishwasher and to eliminate mineral build up, which tends to clog my dishwasher. It works great!! After seeing how great it works, I would never drink it!!
- NO It will ruin alot of neoprene (rubber) Parts. whats the problem?
